1980s Purple Obermeyer Puffer Jacket
Excuse me while I fetch my Lisa Frank trapper keeper and my Popple - but this jacket TOTALLY has me reliving all my late 80s / early 90s childhood memories in all the best ways.
This lightweight down puffer jacket in oh-so-nostalgic pastel pink and purple (a color combo that saturated much of the era's pop-culture: think "Jem and the Holograms" etc). This piece was made by one of my favorite vintage brands - Obermeyer. I love their pieces because they hold up so well even after decades!
Featuring two cotton-lined, hand-warming, exterior slit pockets with zipper closures, as well as two additional storage pockets on the interior. And a convenient, buil-in key keeper in the signature Obermeyer heart shape.
No contest though, the star of the show here is the iconic 80s architectural shape! The high collar and asymetrical lapel can be popped and styled so many ways using the full length zipper and 5 snaps at your disposal. And those shoulders!!! Serving space age, 80s futuristic fashion. The 3-dimensional shoulders clearly channel Michael Jackson's iconic "Thriller" jacket... with maybe a little Judy Jetson and some Princess Glimmer of Bright Moon thrown in for good measure.
Seen all over the runways the past few seasons, big shoulders are back in a big way!

Condition:
Excellent to Near Mint condition (see condition chart below). The coat has been deep cleaned. There are very slight signs of fading and wear along the cuffs and at the edge of the pockets (pictured above). Extremely minor. Hardly noticeable unless pointed out.
Size:Label says Ladies 12. However, vintage sizing differs from today's. I would say this is closer to a modern US women's small. Please see measurements below for an accurate fit.

- Deadstock or NOS- Vintage garment possibly in original packaging, never used. These items may have fading, staining or other issues from years of storage, visible flaws will be noted.
- Mint- Pristine as the day it was made, shows no signs of wear.
- Near Mint- Item shows only the slightest signs of wear.
- Excellent- Item shows typical signs of wear due to occasional use.
- Very Good- Item is wearable, but has some surface flaws such as fading or staining.
- Good- Item is wearable, but cannot be returned to excellent condition even with repairs.
- Fair- Item is barely wearable, could be used for a costume or as a project piece.
- Poor- Item is not wearable and could only be used for repurposing or a pattern.
